Professor Rodrigo Franco Cruz, Ph. D.
I am an Full Professor of Biomedical Sciences at the Redox Biology Center and the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) with a courtesy appointment at the College of Public Health of the University of Nebraska Medical Center COPH/UNMC).
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. (Facultad de Ciencias, 2000) and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (Facultad de Medicina / IFC, 2004) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and was postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Since 2009 I have led an independent research group that focuses on studying the role of redox signaling, protein/organelle quality control mechanisms, and metabolism in neurodegenerative diseases and brain injury. I have published >80 peer review manuscripts (h-index 30, ~9,000 citations), 13 book chapters and edited 1 book, and participated as well as an ad hoc reviewer/editorial board for a number of scientific journals and grant founding agencies (nationally and internationally).
I am an active member of the Society for Neuroscience and the Society of Toxicology and have also received different awards and recognitions nationally and internationally (SNI-III and SIGMA Young Investigator Award).
